Uniting Queen Mothers

Strengthening capacity for socioeconomic development

Our driving purpose is to advocate for the inclusion of Queen Mothers in national policy decisions and discussions in Ghana.

COLANDEF is reaffirming its commitment to advancing women’s land rights in Ghana by empowering Queen Mothers to play an active role in land governance and policymaking. Through the Securing Women’s Land and Property Rights Project, we are working to transform Queen Mothers into advocates and educators who can champion land and property rights for women across the country.

The Issue at Hand

Traditional Leaders in Ghana are crucial to Ghana’s land administration process. Even though traditional leadership involves both Chiefs and Queen Mothers, we have realized that, only Chiefs are involved in customary land governance in Ghana.

Our Vision

We want to have a well-structured institution that is recognizable at the national, regional, and traditional area levels and to serve as the forefront for all Queen Mothers in policy decisions.

Become a member

We are a network of all gazetted Queen Mothers who have been duly enstooled or enskinned according to the customs and traditions of the Traditional Areas. Send us an email to learn how to become a member of the platform.
