Our COVID19 management interventions
Members of the Queen Mothers’ Council have been implementing various interventions in their respective communities in relation to the management of the impact of COVID 19 in Ghana. While these efforts have gone a long a way to complement Government’s effort in the management of the disease in Ghana, there are strong indications that emerging sociocultural issues related to the fight against COVID 19 require a coordinated strategy between the state and traditional leaders in the various communities. In a bid to establish this coordinated strategy of working together in fighting the disease, members of the National Executive Council of the Queen Mothers’ Council put together a strategy which outlined five key areas of collaboration with Government in dealing with all sociocultural issues emerging from the management of COVID 19. This proposal was shared with several sector Ministries. Based on the submission by the Queen Mothers’ Council, there has been some engagement with some of the ministries working under the government policies in curbing the spread of the pandemic. These include the Ministry of Health, Local Government Ministry and National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI).
