The Queen Mothers’ Platform-Ghana (QMP) held a General Meeting from 12th to 14th October 2022 at the Miklin Hotel in Accra. The meeting brought together representatives from all the Regional Executives of the Platform. The main objectives of the meeting were:

  1. Recap of engagements done so far, outcomes achieved and next steps to be undertaken

  2. To review lessons from events held in the year 2022 and what to do with the knowledge acquired

  3. To review current national issues and how the QMP needs to position itself to intervene

  4. To discuss governance and leadership of the QMP

  5. To set up subcommittees for various tasks

In order to support their advocacy for inclusion, better recognition, and increased visibility as a traditional leaders' platform, The Queen Mothers' Platform looks forward to forming more strategic alliances with various partners. The representatives will keep collaborating with COLANDEF to advance the QMP's overall goal.

“I am happy to be part of this platform because of its focus on women and children. I was married but my husband divorced me because I gave birth to five girls. And this is something that is common in my community” – Braima Azara from the Savannah Region.
