The program which was held from the 14th to 16th February 2022 at the Royal Senchi Hotel brought together selected members of the Queen Mothers’ Platform-Ghana from across the country. The training aspect of the conference was facilitated by experts such as Justice Stephen Alan Brobbey, ESQ, Mr. Tawia Akyea, ESQ, and Mr. Victor Kofi Brobbey.  The Queen Mothers were trained on the provisions in the ADR Act, 2010 (ACT 798), and principles from the Act which should guide the conduct of Customary Arbitration.

Dignitaries who were part of the program include the Eastern Regional Minister, Honorable Seth Kwame Acheampong, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Omanhene of the Akwamu Traditional Area, Nana Afrakoma II, Omanhemaa of the Akwamu Traditional Area, the Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Honorable Diana Asonaba Dapaah, the Rector of GIMPA, Professor Samuel Kwaku Bonsu and Dr. Arne Wulff, the Resident Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) in Ghana.

As the lead organization that is facilitating the setting up and institutional strengthening of the Queen Mothers’ Platform-Ghana, COLANDEF is grateful for the recognition given to the setup that has been established for Queen Mothers in Ghana. Very exciting to see how this is leading to having other organizations and state actors committing to collaborating with the Queen Mothers’ Platform-Ghana. We celebrate this as an important milestone towards the inclusion of Queen Mothers in governance and policy.
