The engagement with the Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice was to solicit and seek redress -of various customary laws that are applied to exclude the Queen mothers from customary land governance and decision-making. As a way of seeking their collective rights to be respected, recognized as a consultative platform, various policy actors are being engaged to create awareness of their limitations in participating in customary land governance and policy decisions. These stakeholders are sensitized to understand the plight of Queen mothers and seek recommendations on how the various policies can be amended and applied for the inclusion of Queen mothers. The meeting provided the Queen mothers with the opportunity to request assistance in capacity-building programs to assist them in their advocacy. 

The Deputy Attorney General indicated that the exclusion of Queen mothers is part of a greater problem of gender inequality. This has been perpetuated by patriarchy. She gave assurance that this can be addressed with various forms of advocacy campaigns in all spheres of life. To be able to fight this course, the Queen mothers need to be well informed to handle impediments that may arise from their advocacy campaigns. When they are well resourced in terms of knowledge, they can overcome obstacles that will discourage them to advance the course. It will assist them to stay focused on the path to attaining inclusion. The Queen mothers were admonished to continue building their capacities in various areas, continue and increase their advocacy platforms to create awareness for the public to be well informed about their exclusion and get crave for their indulgence in addressing the exclusion. She pledged her support for advancing the course by getting women lawyers to support in the advocacy, assisting in organizing capacity-building programs, and getting the Queen mothers involved in programs organized by her office.

The meeting was also to seek support in maintaining a well-functioning secretariat for the operational activities of the QMP. This meeting was organized on November 15th,2021 at the office of the Deputy Attorney General in Accra.
